Tailor Made Trips

We believe a great trip is all about the experience and all great trips start with an idea. Whether you have a specific idea or vague notion of what type of trip you want, where you might want to go and how long you would like to go for, Amanzi Travel is in a unique position to offer you the opportunity to create the experience of a lifetime, to suit your individual needs. Our reputation has developed through a deep knowledge and interest in the countries and regions we operate in, and our specialists regularly travel to the regions you will be visiting, so we can offer invaluable advice and suggestions and finally arrange a bespoke trip. That may include working on a volunteer wildlife conservation project for two weeks, followed by a ten day overland trip to explore the wonders of Africa and experience some of the action highlights, then continuing on to an additional two weeks as a volunteer teacher helping orphaned children.

You can find plenty of inspiration and information on this website. However, there's nothing to match the direct experience of our destination specialists. Whether your travel plans are at a tentative stage or completely defined and you are ready to book your trip, our destination specialists have the first-hand experience and up-to-date knowledge required to put your plans into action. They can answer your questions, offer suggestions and advice and, if you are ready, start planning your trip in detail. Our dedicated team are on hand to give advice before, during and after your life-changing trip, and will provide a fully comprehensive pre-departure pack to make your trip as hassle-free as possible. The same specialist will handle your trip from start to finish.

Nicole and Sarah Testimonial Namibia Wildlife Sactuary Noah's Ark Wildlife Sanctuary Zanzibar Teaching

Amanzi Travel booked all their flights, in association with Flight Centre, starting from London to Johannesburg via Nairobi, then an internal flight to Windhoek in Namibia, where Amanzi Travel arranged for them to be picked up and taken to the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary, their first project. Here they spent 4 weeks volunteering with a wide range of African wildlife, including the beautiful tame cheetah. Amanzi Travel holds a full ATOL licence offering financial protection for your flights and trip fees. Flight tickets, full itinerary and pre-departure packs are sent well in advance of their trip.

At the end of their time on this project, Amanzi Travel had organised a transfer from this project to the Noah's Ark Wildlife Sanctuary, where they spent a further 2 weeks helping at this unique wildlife orphanage and welfare centre. Amanzi Travel had previously arranged their onward flight to Tanzania, via Kenya, to their third project. However, whilst they were in Namibia, they requested to change their future flights by a week to enable them to have extra time to explore Zanzibar and soak up the local culture and sights, which Amanzi Travel were very happy to sort out.

Amanzi Travel have a fully-operated 24-hour emergency telephone number, in case flights are delayed or there any other emergencies that may require assistance.

Subsequently, Amanzi Travel organised the transfer from the Namibia Project to Windhoek airport, the flights on to Tanzania, and then to be collected at Zanzibar, Tanzania and taken to the stunningly located Rural Teaching and Community Project for a further 6 weeks, to volunteer in local schools and environmental programmes. The final transfer was also organised at the end of this project to Zanzibar airport for their return journey home to the UK.

Bridget and Kenneth, USA, 2009 - 1 month

Southern Adventure Overland Trip: Victoria Falls to Johannesburg (11 days)
Field Guide Experience, South Africa (2 weeks)

Taylor Bridget Kenneth Field Guide Experience Southern Adventure

After flying from California to Victoria Falls, Amanzi Travel arranged a pick-up from the airport to the Rest Camp, where their 11 day Southern Adventure started. Here, optional excursions were offered, from white-water rafting, bungee-jumping and helicopter trips to boat cruises and simply relaxing and absorbing the breath-taking Victoria Falls. The following 11 days were spent exploring elephant-filled Chobe National Park, the huge expanse of the tranquil water of Okavango Delta, and on to Kruger National Park, South Africa's largest park which is home to the "Big Five".

Amanzi Travel then organised the booking and payment for the transfer from their final camp on the first trip to Pafuri Camp, in Kruger Park, to commence their 2 week Field Guide Experience. This course gave them a more in-depth bush learning experience and the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of nature and the environment in this fascinating ecosystem.
At the end of the course, Amanzi Travel booked them onto and organised payment for the bush bus to Johannesburg in time for their return flight to the USA. Recommendations for local hotels were also offered, when required.

Alice and Sarah, UK, 2009 - 3 months

Zanzibar Rural Teaching (6 weeks)
East African Discoverer Overland Trip: Dar Es Salaam to Victoria Falls (15 days)
Zambia Teaching and Community Project (4 weeks)

Taylor Alice Sarah Zambia Teaching East African Discoverer Zanzibar Teaching

Having flown from London to Zanzibar airport, Amanzi Travel arranged for them to be picked up by one of the project staff and taken to their stunningly-located beach-side accommodation, to volunteer for the next 6 weeks on the Zanzibar Rural Teaching and Community Project. This beautiful palm-fringed local community is badly affected by poverty, lack of education and training and unemployment. By getting involved in local nursery, primary and secondary school education, tourism training schools and environmental programmes, volunteers really feel they make a positive impact on the lives of these people affected by these problems.

At the end of their 6 weeks, Amanzi Travel arranged for Alice and Sarah to be collected and taken on to the departure hotel for the start of their 15 day East African Discoverer overland trip, which would then take them to their next project plus give them the opportunity to see more of this vast spectacular continent. They travelled from Tanzania, through Malawi visiting the peaceful inland freshwater Lake Malawi, and on through Zambia before crossing the mighty Zambezi River finishing in Victoria Falls, where a myriad of optional excursions are on offer.

At the end of their 15 day trip, Amanzi Travel organised for Alice and Sarah to be picked up from a hotel in Victoria Falls where the trip ended, and taken across the border, where they were picked up on the other side by the project manager of the Zambia Teaching and Community Development Project and started their second volunteer placement here a further 4 weeks. This project is based in the vibrant town of Livingstone, where in addition to helping in community schools, keeping local children off the streets and helping them to have a more positive future, there is the opportunity to help on various community projects. At the end of their 4 weeks, they flew from Livingstone to Johannesburg, where an additional night was necessary before an early departure to the UK. Again, Amanzi Travel were able to recommend particular hotels which have regular and reliable airport transfers, and provided a booking contact.

Terry, UK, 2010 – 6 weeks booked and co-ordinated as part of an 11 week trip

Tanzanian Game Parks and Zanzibar (10 days)
Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary (2 weeks)
Cheetah and Leopard Conservation Project (2 weeks)
Namibia South (7 days)

Tailor Made Tanzanian Game Parks Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary Cheetah and Leopard Conservation Project

Upon recommendation from Amanzi Travel, Terry flew into Nairobi the day before his overland trip was due to depart, as trip departures are pretty early. A particular hotel was recommended, and arranged for Terry to be picked up upon arrival at the airport. After exploring beautiful Tanzania and Zanzibar for 10 days, we recommended a particular hotel for a couple of nights to have time to explore Dar Es Salaam before flying to Johannesburg for a few days and then flying on to Windhoek. Amanzi then arranged for Terry to be picked up from the airport and taken to the project where he spent 4 weeks caring for and releasing big cats into a conservation environment. At the end of his time there, we arranged a transfer in time to catch a recommended shuttle to Swakopmund and booked suitable accommodation on arrival which allowed time to experience and explore this exciting city. The final overland trip departed from Swakopmund exploring breathtaking scenery of the Namib Desert and giant sand dunes and Fish River Canyon, and finished in Cape Town 7 days later, where we recommended suitable accommodation again. Terry then planned to have time to explore himself before heading back to Johannesburg in time to fly back to London.

"I feel I must add that I have done a good deal of travelling over the years, albeit never in Africa. So this Continent is a first for me, but I have been very impressed by the professional way that Amanzi Travel have dealt with all my arrangements and enquiries. I do recognise how busy you must be, however, you have always been accessible and have answered any queries I may of had, which is much appreciated. I would highly recommend your company."
